Before you read the reports
A listed weather event does not mean your roof was damaged. Reports describe weather in a location or wider area, not the condition of an individual property. Missing reports do not rule out damage. A roof inspection is needed to assess your home. This archive does not establish insurance coverage or a claim deadline.

File a claim with your insurer
If you believe your home has storm damage, contact the insurer named on your policy. These links take you to official insurer websites. Your policy terms, deductible and the circumstances of the loss determine coverage. Listing a storm here does not mean a claim will be covered.

About this data
Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, Storm Events Database. Records may be revised and are published after a reporting delay of several months. This archive is not a live weather-alert service. Event counts are individual NOAA reports, not unique storms or damaged homes. Download original NOAA data.
Archive last refreshed November 7, 2026. Latest month of NOAA reports covered: July 2026.
How these reports are organized
Counties and forecast zones. NOAA files some reports by county and others by National Weather Service forecast zone, such as "Northern New London". Zone reports are matched to their county, and the original zone name is shown.
Reference towns. The town shown is the reference location NOAA lists for the start of the event, sometimes with a distance and direction. It is not necessarily where damage happened. Reports without one show "Town not specified". No town is guessed.
Measurements. Hail size is in inches. Wind is reported by NOAA in knots and converted to mph (1 knot = 1.150779448 mph), with NOAA's note on whether it was estimated or measured, and a gust or sustained wind. Missing measurements are left out, not shown as zero. Snow and ice amounts are not part of this data. Tornado ratings are shown as published.
Weather types. Included types are hail, thunderstorm wind, high wind, strong wind, tornado, tropical storm, hurricane, winter storm, heavy snow and ice storm. Blizzard and general winter weather reports are not included, so this is not a complete snow and ice record.
Coverage. All Connecticut counties, Worcester County in Massachusetts, and Providence and Kent counties in Rhode Island. Other parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island are not included.
Dates and wording. Dates are NOAA local calendar dates; times are not shown. Report text is NOAA's own wording, shortened in places and marked with an ellipsis.
